How to: Paint rims black

Painting your rims black will improve your car's appearance especially if your stock rims are rusted, faded, or if the original paint is starting to fade.

First thing you need is paint, you can get Rustoleum spray cans. They come in flat black as well as glossy black. If your short on cash, you can go to home depot and buy Quick Color Glossy Black for $1 each. Spray the rims, make sure you spray the rims with some distance that way the paint will be distributed evenly. Give the rims a couple coats, and finish it off with clear coat. Now give yourself a pat in the back, your done!

Good lighting on a budget

Amber Halogen Fog Lights, I got them at Harbor Freight for $12.99, good price and they look great. Only two wires to wire up, I wired the black wire (ground) to the chassis. The white wire is the power source, I wired it to the one of the fuses in the fuse box, I personally wired mine to the cig. lighter fuse so whenever the key is turned on to the on position, the fog lights would turn on.

My headlights are Type R halo white. Looks amazing especially at night time. Easy to install just take out your old bulb and drop these in.

Get the Tercel Igniter and run a wire to the wiring harness. Also wire a + and - wire to the Blaster Coil.

Make Sure the Timing Belt is aligned to top dead center, and make sure the distributor pins are aligned as well and start it up.

Ignition Upgrade Part 1

To perform a street level Ignition upgrade on your 4AC powered vehicle your gonna need the following things.

-MSD Ignition Coil ex. Blaster 2
-A 3AC distributor from Tercel 1980-1982
-3AC Tercel Igniter
-Spark Plug Wires for 3AC (Magnecor 8.5mm Spark Plug Wires Recommended)

Part 2
Will show you step by step how to install a MSD ignition coil into your vehicle.

Coming Soon

Magnecor 8.5mm Wires

Hey guys, ever since installing my new ignition system upgrade, I also had to upgrade to Magnecor 8.5mm Race Wires. This is because with the stock wires, they will not hold enough electricity not hold as much electricity. The Magnecor Spark Plug wires are thicker and thus hold more electricity without leakage this is especially important since the MSD Blaster 2 Coil produces a much more powerful spark, a high quality spark wire with a thicker diameter is especially important to maximize the performance gain from the Ignition Upgrade.

Weber Carb 38

I also have a Weber 38/38 installed in my car, for those of you who are unfamiliar with a Weber Carburetion. Weber manufactures high performance aftermarket carburetors for many vehicles. Including those equipped with a 4AC engine such as mine and AE86 SR5's. The stock Carburetor that comes with my vehicle is very restrictive, hence sapping my car from reaching its fuel potential.
Since upgrading to a Weber Carb, throttle response has improved substantially. This is because I have chose a Weber 38 over the Weber 32/36 which is typically a more common upgrade when it comes to the 4AC engine.
I chose the Weber 38 first of all because of the bigger jets, which allow more fuel and air into my engine. In addition the biggest difference between the Weber 38 and the smaller Weber 32/36 is the fact that the Weber 38 is a Synchronized Carb which means both barrels open simultaneously, giving instant throttle response.
Where as the Weber 32/36 is a progressive carburetor, in which one barrel opens at part throttle and both barrels open at fuel throttle. Essentially the Weber 32/36 is aimed at economy which still giving better performance than stock, while the Weber 38 is geared towards all out performance.

Interior Work

Added a Type R Tachometer, since the car itself does not come with a tach. The new tach I've added is very responsive, and being 5" it looks and feels great!

A Grant GT wheel has also been thrown in, replacing the old stock steering wheel which was heavy as hell.

RS-i shift knob also replaces the stock shifter, now I can shift my car manually and freely.

New stereo system, Phillips also installed, giving me a much better audio system.

JDM metal pedals installed as wheel.

The car was very clean when I first received it. My dad kept it clean for the most part, the car had 123xxx miles initially and now has about 132xxx 2 years later. Not bad at all. Pictures were taken approx. 4-5 months ago.

A quick shot of the engine bay. Good ol' 4AC power!

Hello World!

Hey guys, this is my first post. This is a blog about my on going project car the AE82 Sedan. It is powered by a SOHC 1.6L Carb Engine. Yes, its a 4AC engine, and I really love it because for such a small engine, it actually puts out a decent amount of power. I've had the car for about two new cars now, and it is actually my first car.
My dad first brought the car in 1987 for $10000, a bit before I was ever born. The car was purchased brand new, it has a 3-speed automatic transmission, which is quite reliable although I would liked it to have been a manual tranny.
My dad actually brought the car when he was going out with my mom, my dad would often joke around that if he haven't brought the car, my mom wouldn't have married him. When I was little my dad would tell me "Son, one day this car would be yours." And it turns out that this prophecy actually came true!

This is my car in all stock form, except for fog lights.
